What is a normal eating pace? Bites per minute, explained
How many bites per minute is calm, steady or fast, how long a relaxed meal usually takes, and how to find the pace that feels right for you.

There's no single "correct" speed for eating, but there is a pace at which most people feel more comfortable afterwards. Thinking in bites per minute makes it easy to notice.
The three zones
| Zone | Bites per minute | What Lohi says |
|---|---|---|
| Calm | up to 4 | "Nice and easy" |
| Steady | 4 to 6 | "Steady pace" |
| Fast | above 6 | "Try a little pause" |
How long should a meal take?
A calm meal often takes 15 to 20 minutes or more. That window gives your body time to register that it has eaten.
Finding your own pace
Try counting your bites for one minute at your next meal, or let Lohi do it for you. Then adjust the zones in the app until "calm" feels genuinely comfortable.
