Questions, answered.

Everything you might wonder about Lohi, in plain words.

What is Lohi?

Lohi is an Apple Watch and iPhone app that helps you eat more slowly. It notices when you start a meal, counts your bites per minute and, when the pace gets quick, gives you one light tap on the wrist to invite a little pause.

What does “lohi” mean?

Lohi means “slow” in Hawaiian. Our mascot is a small sea turtle (honu), a Hawaiian symbol of calm, who never rushes a meal.

How does Lohi know I am eating?

Lohi uses the motion sensors in your Apple Watch to recognise the hand-to-mouth movement of taking a bite. It starts on its own when a meal begins, so there is nothing to remember to press.

What is a good eating pace?

Lohi starts with three zones you can adjust: calm is up to 4 bites per minute, steady is 4 to 6, and above 6 is a fast pace. Most people find a calm meal takes 15 to 20 minutes or more.

Does Lohi count calories or track my weight?

No. Lohi only looks at how you eat, not what or how much. There is no calorie counting, no weight goals and no guilt, just a calmer pace at the table.

Can eating slowly help with acid reflux?

Many people who live with acid reflux find that slower, calmer meals feel more comfortable. Lohi is a wellness app, not a medical device, and does not diagnose or treat any condition. Talk to your doctor about your symptoms.

Which devices does Lohi work on?

Lohi is made for Apple Watch (watchOS 10 or later) paired with an iPhone (iOS 17 or later). A Wear OS version is in the works.

When can I get Lohi?

Lohi is in development for the US market. Join the waitlist to hear the moment it is ready.
